The sun

The sun
The sun is very hot and if anyone tried to go on it then they would die because the sun is to hot for anyone.

About the sun
The sun is made of a big ball of hydrogen gas. The sun is in the center of our solar system and it produces light and heat for the other planets and for earth. The sun is not a planet it is a star. The sun is the biggest star in our solar system but compared to the other suns our one is a dwarf sun.

What makes the sun very hot?
In the center of the sun there is the sun's core and the core it is the hottest part of the sun not the surface but the core. You might think that the surface is the hottest part but it isn’t.

Why is the sun so big?
The reason why the sun is so big is because the sun has a bigger mass. Mass means that because it is big it has a bigger gravity and because the rocky planets are small than they have a small gravity. The sun rotates but it does not orbit around it just stays there and rotates.

Conclusion
The sun is also called sol and it produces solar energy which makes light and heat. The sun makes solar flares which goes up and than it goes back down because of the gravity.

Seasons

Why do we have seasons?

Watch the video and go on the websites to find answers to the questions below.

How many times a year does the earth go around the sun.

One orbit around the sun is one year.
Which way does the sun appear to move across the sky?
What hemisphere is New Zealand in?

New zealand is in the southern hemisphere.

What months do we have spring in?

They are September - November.
Write two paragraphs about your favourite season in the space below.
My favourite season is winter because i get to be covered in warm as blankets and i get to have hot chocolate and i get to sleep in more and other people get to make snowmen but nz doesn’t have any snow.

Why are our seasons at different times of the year to other parts of the world?
The seasons are at different times because when the northern hemisphere is facing the sun than tht side would be summer and the other side  that doesn't have any light it would be winter.
If New Zealand is in summer, what season would it be in North america?

It would be cold in north america because the sun is not facing towards the country.
What is the axis?

An invisible line that goes through the earth.

The instructor was talking about planets, sun, stars and about how big the planets are.
When he was talking about the planets he was also talking about the dwarf planets called makemake, pluto, haumea, ceres and eris and he was talking about the rocky planets and the gas giants.
We were talking about all of the planets that have moons.  Earth, jupiter, mars, saturn, uranus and neptune.

The Sun!
The sun’s scientific name is sol.

What is the sun?
The sun is a star that is part of our solar system. The sun sits at the centre of the solar system, it is orbited by 8 planets which rotate at the same time. The sun is the biggest part of our solar system, but it’s small compared to other suns in other systems. The sun does not move because it’s a star.

What is the sun made of?
The sun is made of energy. The sun produces energy, called solar energy which can be used to power homes on Earth. The core is the hottest part of the sun, it is 27 million degrees F*/15 million degrees C*. It’s made of Hydrogen gas which is sometimes known as Hg.

What does the sun do?
The sun produces light and heat. In the olden days egyptians used to think that the sun is a god and they would worship it. If the sun wasn’t in the solar system then there would be total darkness and nothing. It takes 8 minutes for the light from the surface of the sun to travel to earth.
